SONITRA AND MOTORAGRI: TWO EVIDENTS OF IVORY COAST- ISRAEL RELATIONS (1943-1993)

Résumé en anglais:

Israeli expansion in Africa following independence resulted in the signing of several political and economic agreements. Between 1963 and 1966, Ivory Coast, under the presidency of Félix Houphouët-Boigny, established an economic partnership with Israel, facilitating the arrival of Israeli experts in various technical fields. Their expertise facilitated the establishment of companies, notably SONITRA and MOTORAGRI. These companies contributed significantly to the development of modern infrastructure and the mechanization of agriculture, two priorities of the young Ivorian state. The objective of this study is to identify these companies that bear witness to the Ivorian-Israeli partnership and to analyze their contributions to the economic and social development of Ivory Coast. For this work, we consulted various sources and publications. The sources used included archival documents and printed materials. Regarding publications, we read general works, theses, and articles. The information gathered from these documents was classified and compared before undergoing historical analysis. Following this process, data was used to support our analyses and interpretations.
